8 Tips For Working Out in EXTREME Heat!

It has been in the triple digits here. Very hot and sticky even for August! I have started to dread my morning workouts. So instead of letting the heat beat me, I thought I would share some tips on working out when there's a heat advisory or extreme heat!

1. Wear light colored breathable clothes.
2. Apply SPF 15 sunscreen on face and shoulders. Also wear hat!
3. Work out in the early morning between 5am-8am to beat the extreme heat. Working out first thing in the morning raises your metabolism.
4. Drink LOTS of water before and after workout to stay hydrated.
5. Put your water bottle in the freezer overnight to be extra cold.
6. Know your body. If you are feeling light headed or dizzy take a break or stop.
7. Try working out in the pool. Water aerobics is low impact. It is also great for flexibility and burning calories.
8. When all else fails hit the air conditioning or shorten your workout! It's better to be active than not be active.
