Burpees
  • Why it's a winner: This is great to get the heart rate up plus it does not take a lot of room and can be done most anywhere.
  • How to perform: Begin in a standing position, touch the ground and throw you feet back behind you, pull your feet back in and return to standing position. 
  • Key tip for maximum effectiveness: Try to snap the feet all the way out while holding your core tight through the movement.
Power Cleans
  • Why it's a winner: You just can't go wrong with a power clean. It is power, plus stamina, endurance, and great reflexes.
  • How to perform: With the bar on the floor, grab the bar with a wide grip and knees slightly bent, snatch the bar and stand up, while keeping back flat throw your hips forward, raise the bar to about neck level with wrists parallel to the ground. Lower bar back down starting position. 
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: The more you do these the more efficient you get doing them.
Uppercuts with Dumbbells
  • Why it's a winner: Great way to develop the serratus anterior muscles (muscle on the surface of the upper eight or nine ribs at the side of the chest) and its fun.
  • How to perform: Knees slightly bent take two dumbbells and rotate with upper cuts alternating arms.  
  • Key tip for maximum effectiveness: Make sure you turn your toes and hip in the direction of the punch. Your arms are just like a pendulum the power comes from the hips.
Kettlebell Swings
  • Why it's a winner: Wakes up the hips. Many people become frozen in the hips and this is where your power is.
  • How to perform: Knees slightly bent and shoulder width apart, start bent over swinging kettle bell just with velocity of the hips, arms are simply a pendulum. Throw your hips forward and exhale on exertion.
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: Squeeze glutes at the end of the movement.
Back Extension with Plate
  • Why it's a winner: Great way to work the back and glutes.
  • How to perform: Lie on a back extension machine, holding a plate against your chest and extend upwards.
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: Keep back flat without rounding the shoulders.
Low Crawls
  • Why it's a winner: Works the core and it is challenging.
  • How to perform: Get on your elbows and toes and crawl. Keep hips low.
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: Keep abs tight during whole movement.
Planks
  • Why it's a winner: Using your own body weight, it can be performed anywhere, and very effective.
  • How to perform: Support your body with your toes and elbows keeping back flat and hips low to the ground.
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: Remember to breath.
Weighted Ball Crunch
  • Why it's a winner: This is a great workout for your abdominal muscles and for stability.
  • How to perform: Lie on your back on a pilates ball holding a 25 lb plate or more and crunch forward lifting the weight into the air and exhaling on exertion.
  • Key Tip for maximum effectiveness: Keep both feet firmly planted on the ground. Exhale on exertion and squeeze those abdominal muscles.
