New study shows gut bacteria are able to control our hunger sensations.

A new study shows that the food digested by the gut microbiome send more feelings of fullness to our brain than the original food. There are now dozens of studies linking the health of the microbiome and weight gain/loss. Some cutting edge research is also showing that some of the million or so genes in the gut (we only have 32000 or so) are able to communicate directly with our genes. The gut-brain and the gut-gene axis is now understood to influence many of our feelings, moods and even behaviour. People will never lose weight permanently until they fix their microbiome. That is one of the many reasons why diets, calorie counting and low fat diets will only ever work short term.
