Sugar not salt causes high blood pressure.

There is no doubt that processed foods are killing us. Half the world dies of malnutrition form starvation the other half dies from malnutrition from processed foods. Historically we have blamed salt but so much research shows it is not the real culprit the real one is sugar, sugar, sugar.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of premature mortality in the developed world, and hypertension (high blood pressure) is its most important risk factor. Hypertension is the major cause of stroke.
Overwhelming evidence from epidemiological studies and experimental trials in animals and humans suggests that added sugars increases blood pressure and blood pressure variability, increase heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand, and contribute to inflammation, insulin resistance and broader metabolic dysfunction.
So it is time to cut out the sugar and the processed foods. A reduction in the intake of added sugars, particularly fructose, and specifically in the quantities and context of industrially-manufactured consumables, would help not only curb hypertension rates, but might also help address broader problems related to cardiometabolic disease and cancer.
